KOREA!

Sorry it took me so long to finally get to this. 337 photos were taken in Korea, so you can imagine that it wasn't really motivating a sloth like me to get started. Then of course I realised that not all, maybe not even half the photos would be posted. Which leaves us with about 168.5 photos, which isn't very encouraging either.

But whatever, I'm here now.

First stop: War Memorium, Seoul.

Pretty pretty scenery.

I shot this because this line really said something to me. Very thought-provoking.

It's like Singapore Discovery Centre, with all the jets and tanks. And that's my mum, who didn't know that she's in the shot.

Do you have any idea how cold it is? Summer some more leh! Siao then winter how?

I even had to seek refuge in a phone booth. No kidding.

When we're given too much time to stick around a bunch of army stuff that doesn't work anymore, boredom inevitably happens.

Vending machines make a very pretty backdrop for random pictures.

And you thought I was crazy? Check out these two. Maybe it runs in the family.

And... the madness continues as we take a look at the statues.

The statue's expression is super funny!

But you can always expect the humans to outshine the statues.

Okay enough of madness! We're leaving! But where to? Well, you'll know soon. Stay tuned!

To be continued...

A happy very, very belated 19th birthday to me.

19. What an odd age. I prefer 18, if you ask me. 16 is nice too. Heck, I'll even settle for 17. Anything but the number that signals the impending arrival of the big 2-0. Does anyone knows what this means? After this year, the first digit of my age won't be 1 anymore. Not until I turn 100 anyway.

Oh goodness I feel so old...

But on the bright side, there's the celebration. Celebrations, actually.

There's nothing like getting onto a thrill ride to scream your head off and temporarily distract yourself from your age. Escape Theme Park is a pathetic little thing, but it's the only thing that this country has. Until the IR comes around in a few years, that is. There're going to be amusement parks in the IR, right next to (or in between or outside) the casinos right? Can't wait.

After being thrown upside down and all over by the ride. I wasn't thinking clearly after the ride, so excuse me for acting cute with the V-sign and all.

And hey, it's the... eyebag brigade. All of us have such heavy eyebags! Or is it just the lighting or the camera? Or is this proof that the average Singaporean youth doesn't get enough sleep? In any case, from left: Zhenbin, Zoe, Me, CK.

Zoe and me.

Me and Mr. Botak.

After Escape, we went for dinner, and Danny (Zoe's guy) joined us. He would have joined us for the Escape outing, but he got confined. Oh well. After dinner, we all went to my place for cake, games, drinks and chit-chat. In case you're wondering what's written on the cake, it says "Happy 19TH Birthday to Chelle".

And I thought I was getting tanned.

On my actual birthday, which is the 6th, I celebrated at my workplace. I'm not sure whether it's legal to post pictures of the children here. But it wouldn't be nice. If I were a parent, I wouldn't want my child's picture to show up on some blog that I don't know of. And so... there's only the pictures where it's just me.

Two chocolate cakes within only a few days! All that sugar... oh gosh.

So many candles... what a hassle. At least next year I'll have just two candles.

And since we're on the subject of birthdays, guess who also had two candles on their birthday cake? Maple! Yeah, it's Maple's 2nd anniversary, and even though I haven't played for ages, I still like it.

From left: Danny, Zoe, CK, me. We went to Suntec to take a look at the celebrations. Exciting enough, but only if you're a 10-year-old. So you can imagine how thrilled we were. We stayed to watch the cake-cutting ceremony, check out the lame games, and then we left to go to... Max Brenner's Chocolate Bar! It's this really really really nice chocolate place at the Esplanade. The fondue and the suckao... heavenly. Must try!

Okay... so this wraps up the Birthday Issue. Next up: Korea! Stay tuned!

Anybody missed me?

Oh goodness, I can't believe I haven't blogged for the whole of June! And so many things happened, the two most exciting being my birthday and the Korea trip, of course. To make up for my long long absence, there'll be plenty of pictures.

Before all that, here are the long overdue photos of the Bintan trip!

Stayed at the Angsana Resort. This was the welcome drink. I don't even know what it is, but it tasted great. Had a lovely lemon-y fragrance to it.

The view from the balcony was, needless to say, fabulous.

Isn't everything just so clean and green? Like Singapore, only without the crowds who will ultimately produce a horrible lot of litter at the end of the day.

Well, but be warned. In a resort like this, you'll be mingling with the various elements of Mother Nature. And it's not a lizard you're looking at. It's a freaking iguana, or whatever you call it, about the length of my leg, maybe longer. This huge thing walks freely among the greenery surrounding the pool. That said, the pool itself is very nice.

The picture didn't capture it, but I'm standing in the shallow part of the pool. And the fountain is very shiok!

Do you really think that I'd get all the way to Bintan without hitting the beach? Let me tell you, the sand is fine, fine, fine...

I'll have my drink on the rocks.

Pasar Ole Ole, which is a tiny shopping village where they sell souvenirs at ridiculously expensive prices.

Unfortunately, the only things we could consume without being charged extra were the coffee and tea.

I just adore miniature bottles of alcohol. They look so cute and innocent.

And with that, wraps up the entry about the Bintan trip. Stay tuned for the entry about my birthday celebrations!
